Mourning George Carlin

Published by shickson at 5:29 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

I think it’s the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately. -George Carlin

The AP reports that George Carlin died today of heart failure. He was a comedian who pushed the limits as far as he could, even leading to a case heard by the Supreme Court. When I heard this I felt immediate sadness. We don’t have enough people today who are willing to challenge the status quo and push us past our comfort zone, and I do think these are important people to have in the world. He could look at a topic that the rest of us take for granted, and come out with a whole new perspective that then looked like common sense. He will be missed. RIP, George.
